Caesar Salad Throw Down: 5/21/10

Recently, Howard Serkin, a close friend and long time patron of Trattoria Bella Cibo (Margate Florida), claimed his caesar salad was better than that of Head Chef Tommy A.K.A. Chef D’Lish. What resulted was an all out throw-down, a caesar salad throw-down that is. True to form, the event was officiated by boxing champ Jose Morales, and though there were no low blows, Chef D’Lish did have a slight advantage, a trainer (sponsor) by the name of Castello Tudisco!

Chef D’Lish, astutely selected DéVoo (Devine Extra Virgin Olive Oil) as his secret weapon; the result was a one of a kind caesar dressing earning a unanimous decision in D’Lish’s favor. Look for this fantastic recipe in our “Fun Recipes” section of www.CastelloTudisco.com !!

Manhattan’s Vintage Irving/ SideBAR will lay host to Castello Tudisco’s latest kick-off party. With close friends and industry partners on the guest list, Castello Tudisco anticipates a phenomenal evening where Castello Tudisco’s olive oil will be paired with Italian wines and breads; a true taste of Italy brought to the City.

Castello Tudisco Kick-Off Party Succeeds at South Beach Food & Wine Festival

Castello Tudisco is proud to announce the successful launch our new boutique line of olive oils at Scarpetta in the Fontainebleau, Miami Beach. The event we participated in was the Midnight Amore Dinner, which ran in conjunction with the 2010 South Beach Food & Wine Festival.

The event displayed the cooking talents of celebrity chefs Rocco Dispirito, Alex Guarnaschelli, and Scott Conant, who served over 300 guests. At Castello Tudisco’s tasting station, guests raved about both the olive oils, and the tapenade spreads. Attendees of the event received 3 sample bottles (one of each type) of olive oil, as well as special online offers all contained in well-appointed gift boxes.

Castello Tudisco boasts a rich history dating back to the fifteenth century when the Tudisco family produced wine and olive oil at their castle in Southern Italy. Today, much care is taken in preserving the land as a biologically protected area. Though the technology is available to chemically protect an entire orchard from various environmental challenges, we practice agricultural techniques that forbid the use of chemicals; herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides are strictly forbidden. It is this commitment to the natural state of the fruit, which allows us to deliver the highest quality olive oil while maintaining the most compellingly rich and smooth fruity flavors found in olive oil the world over.

The Fontainebleau Hotel boasts a rich history as well, opening in 1954 as the most luxurious hotel on Miami Beach. Today it is one of the most historically and architecturally significant hotels on Miami Beach with a recently completed $1 billon dollar renovation including over 1500 rooms and suites, 11 restaurants and nightclubs, and a 40,000 square foot spa, all situated on 22 lush, tropical acres that still breathe the hotels history.
